Jen & Chris Make Highland Heaven with their Edmonton Wedding Photographer

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Jen and Chris are a matched made in Highland heaven. The young couple met while Highland dancing a few years ago, so it was only appropriate that they tie the knot at the Highlands United Church in Edmonton. After a beautiful ceremony, the new couple accompanied their photographers to Fort Edmonton Park for some bride and groom portraits. The beautiful full colours where on full effect, and Jen’s stunning red hair stood out against the yellows and greens featured at Fort Edmonton Park. Their resourceful photographer used unique walls as backdrops for their photographs, lending a lot of character to Jen and Chris’ images.
After shooting at Fort Edmonton, the couple re-joined their family and bridal party at Blue Meadows Hall. The second location is landscaped beautifully, and there was no shortage of locations to use.
The lovely couple endured the icy winds…and an power outage on their wedding day! Half way through the reception the power went out due to the aforementioned winds. Luckily, Chris is well versed with the bag pipe, so all the reception entertainment went ahead. After a performance by a bag pipe band, Highland dancers performed, true to the very way the bride and groom initially met.
Congratulations Jen and Chris on a lovely wedding!

Leanne & Stephen Explore Agrarian Chic with their Edmonton Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Leanne and Stephen craved a wedding that was intimate, sincere, and most importantly, in the country.

Held at the groom’s farm in Pickardville, Alberta, Leanne and Stephen were betrothed at an outdoor ceremony, surrounded by their friends and family. The bride and groom had a strong personal connection with the land, as it was where the groom was raised and the bride was proposed to.

The farm offered no shortage for picture locations, and Leanne & Stephen enjoyed exploring the landscape with their photographers. From dusty dirt roads, to swing sets, horse stables to the very wheat field where Stephen asked for Leanne’s hand, each location served as a beautiful backdrop.

The affable coupled endured heat and intense sun with no complaint…they were a joy to work with!
Congratulations Leanne & Stephen on a beautiful wedding!

Stunning bride? Check. Picture perfect weather? Check. Gorgeous bride? Check. Throw in a beautiful location and a talented photographer, and you have wedding photos that turn heads and evoke envy.

Nela and Devin chose to have their portraits taken at Elk Island National Park, and their choice worked well for them. Nela’s bridesmaids looked lovely being photographed in lipstick red dresses while surrounded by a vibrant and green forest. Not to be outdone, Nela looked like a contemporary Snow White in the forest. Her trademark tiara helped complete the look as she elegantly strolled through the park.

Congratulations Nela & Devin on a beautiful wedding!

A Skater, Bride and a Wedding Photographer Create Avant-Garde Images in Edmonton

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

It took a skater boy, a bride, and an edgy photographer to create such unique images!

Yvette and Blair were married at a gorgeous ceremony in St. Albert, Alberta. Being a fun, young couple, Yvette and Blair wanted their wedding to be different. A skater themed wedding definitely sufficed! Blair’s groomsmen wore skater shoes, and a majority of the couple’s wedding portraits were taken in a skater park in St. Albert. A bride in a skater park definitely creates juxtaposition, thus lending a unique and avant-garde flavour to their wedding photos.

Yvette and Blair’s photographer then blended the modern with the old by using the St. Albert Grotto as a backdrop. The grotto was appropriate for the couple, as Yvette’s grandfather help construct it.

Congratulations Yvette and Blair for having such a special wedding!

Old World Romance in Edmonton with Angie, Tim and Their Wedding Photographer

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Classic and timeless was thier wedding, something straight out of an old world romance novel. Angie was a stunning bride down to every last detail, from the hair, the shoes, the bouquet and the glimmer in her eye upon seeing her handsome groom on her wedding day. With emotions so grand they caused the bride to both tremor and tear, Angie and Tim exchanged their nuptials during a beautiful ceremony at Knox Metropolitan Church in Edmonton, Alberta.

Not to be outdone, the reception was flawless as it was held at the Hotel MacDonald. The Empire Ballroom was filled with a field of orchids and roses, set against a backdrop of gold and turquoise. A string quartet filled the room with classic waltzes, and the bride and groom celebrated their union by dancing slowly, as if no one was watching, until the wee hours of the morning.
Thank you, Angie & Tim, for allowing us to be part of your special day!

Vanessa & Chris Outlast the Rain with their Edmonton Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

It started out as a beautiful and sunny day for Vanessa and Chris, as they exchanged their nuptials at the Edson Golf and Country Club. Their pictures were taken along with their bridal party at a beautifully landscaped garden at the Heritage Court Retirement Home. Having a young and vibrant bridal party always makes for great photos, so when their photographer discovered a fun graffiti wall not too far away, everyone was excited to try something different.

Half way through their photo session, a thunderstorm broke through and took everyone by surprise. Vanessa and Chris were nonchalant about the change in weather, and chose to wait out the rain in the hopes that the storm would pass so they could continue with their photos. Their perseverance paid off, as the the storm did pass and their photographer was able to use the aforementioned graffiti wall. It was a great choice, as the colours in the wall were the perfect compliment to Vanessa’s eyes.
Thank you Vanessa and Chris for making us part of your special day!

Claire & Matthew Celebrate in Jasper with their Edmonton Wedding Photographer

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Claire and Matthew looked picture perfect as they tied the knot in Jasper National Park. It was a fun shoot, as all formal portraits were taken within the national park. The rugged landscape juxtaposed the soft romantic feel of the day. To complete the experience, numerous vehicles that drove by honked their horns to wish the newlyweds well.

Having Jasper National Park so close to Hinton made using the national park for photos rather convenient. Claire and Matthew held their reception at the Overlander Lodge in Hinton, where the wedding ceremony was held.

Congratulations Claire and Matthew on a beautiful wedding!

Randy & Christa’s Special Day is Captured With Their Edmonton Wedding Photographer!

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Randy and Christa chose Jasper, Alberta to hold their wedding rather than their native Fort MacMurray, and their choice paid off. Their nuptials were held at a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking Pyramid Lake in Jasper National Park.

Having such a gorgeous landscape as a shooting location, a handsome couple, and a talented photographer certainly makes for stunning photographs. Multiple locations throughout the national park were used, including both the aforementioned Pyramid Lake and the Maligne lookout. Needless to say, Randy and Christa were impressed and happy with their wedding photos!

Instant Memories would like to thank Randy and Christa for the opportunity to work with such an amazing couple on such a special day!

Rain or Shine, Ashley & Steven Celebrate with Their Edmonton Wedding Photographer

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Take one cute couple, an uproariously entertaining bridal party, an adorable ring bearer, a stunning ceremony location, an enduring flower girl, and then add an elegant reception, and you have the perfect wedding.

Ashley and Steven were married at a gorgoueous outdoor ceremony at the Devonian Botanical Gardens, just outside of Edmonton. The bride Ashley, who not only was wildly photogenic, but also adored pictures, planned the day accordingly. Formal portraits of the family, the bridal party, and the bride and groom themselves were done at the Devonian Botanical Gardens prior to the outdoor ceremony.

This allowed Ashley and Steven’s wedding photographer to shoot extensively throughout the gardens. Formal portraits were shot in the Japanese garden, a background that could stand up to how elegantely manicured Ashley and her bridesmaids were.

After formal portraits, Ashley and Steven were then married at an outdoor ceremony in an another beautiful part of the Devonian Botanical Gardens. Their ceremony was immaculately timed, as they finished their nuptials the sky clouded over and became stormy black. The sky added dramatic accent to all of the hot pink accents Ashley had used that day.
En route to their reception at the Sutton Place Hotel, Ashley and Steven had more formal portraits taken at the Legislative grounds in downtown Edmonton. With the grounds being deserted after the aforementioned storm, Ashley, Steven and their wedding photographer were allowed to explore and utilize the grounds well landscaped areas and beautiful architecture.
Instant Memories would like to thank Ashley and Steven for allowing them to be part of such a special day!

A Japanese Garden in Edmonton Makes the Perfect Wedding Location for Amanda, Marc and Their Photographer

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

With whimsical Japanese umbrellas to perfectly accentuate a Japanese garden, Amanda married Marc on a beautiful summer’s day in Edmonton.

Theirs was a smaller ceremony and reception, lending an intimate and sincere flavour to their nuptials. The cozy bridal party allowed their photographer to try a multitude of locations throughout the Devonian Botanical Gardens. The brides’ and bridesmaid’s bouquets looked lovely when photographed in an area so abundant with green flora. The elegant and feminine look of their dresses complimented their surroundings with breathtaking harmony.

Having a smaller bridal party meant that Amanda and Marc’s wedding photographer could focus a lot of time on formal portraits of the bride and groom. With the summer light ever changing throughout the course of the day, their photographer was able to create gorgeous and evocative photographs. With varying light and locations used in their photo session, Amanda and Marc have photographs that range from sweetly romantic to energetic, spontaneous to decorous.

Congratulations Amanda and Marc!
